A Path of Science (2025) article titled “Innovations in Fire Detection and Suppression Systems for Oil Refinery Operations” examines the latest technologies for controlling and extinguishing fires in high-risk environments. In refineries and petrochemical industries, fires can cause catastrophic damage. For this reason, traditional fire extinguishing systems such as water spray or conventional foams are no longer sufficient. In the new generation, technologies such as Water Mist Systems and Fluorine-Free Foams (FFF) have replaced the old methods. By producing very fine particles (less than 100 microns), the water mist system cools the flame faster and reduces the oxygen level at the fire site. On the other hand, fluorine-free foams are becoming the global standard due to their environmental friendliness and reduced water and soil pollution. In addition, the use of firefighting robots and autonomous drones in hazardous environments is increasing. These robots can enter areas inaccessible to humans and precisely target the fire site with thermal imaging systems. 🔹 Application for your company: In large industrial projects, the proposal to use a combination of water mist system, biodegradable foam, and automatic fire-fighting robot can be presented as a modern and sustainable design.
